Is there a way to modify TTL's? We're switching email servers and I don't want a days worth of queued email after the dns records update.
Yes, you have 2 options. Either option must be done a minimum of 24 hours in advance of your change:
1. If you know what time you want to make the switch, use the Expires On/Activates On feature. First, create a new record, identical to the first, but with the new IP. Set the "Activate On" feature by setting the date/time you want the record to go live. Second, go to your old record and set the same date/time, but this time choose the "Expires On" drop down. Now, your old record will expire and new record will kick in at exactly the date and time you specified.
2. If your not sure what time you will make the switch, set the "Expires On" date of your current record to some date in the future, say '20300101'. This will set the TTL to 60 mins. Then, when your ready to make the switch, simply change the IP if the existing record. Maximum delay will be 60 mins.
Again, whichever option you choose, it should be done at least 24 hour ahead of your change, since our default TTL is 24 hours.
